Vets Pets adds fifth Oak Heart hospital in Raleigh
Vets Pets plans to open a fifth Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital location in Raleigh, North Carolina, expanding the group’s footprint into the fast-growing North Hills area. The new hospital, at 3700 Six Forks Road, is expected to open in early summer 2026 and will be led by Jake Clements, DVM, an NC State College of Veterinary Medicine graduate who has practiced at Oak Heart’s Longview site since 2023. According to Vets Pets and Oak Heart, the site will add full-service companion animal care, diagnostics, surgery, pharmacy services, dentistry, boarding, doggie daycare, grooming, and training to Oak Heart’s existing Raleigh-area network. dvm360’s clinic roundup also highlighted two adjacent retail moves: a new 10,000-square-foot Pet Supplies Plus store in Covington, Kentucky, and Jakewell’s baby-and-pet hybrid concept store in Hong Kong. Why it matters: For veterinary professionals in the Triangle, Oak Heart’s expansion is another sign that established regional groups are still investing in brick-and-mortar growth where pet parent demand is strong. Vets Pets explicitly framed the North Hills opening as a response to local demand for more veterinary access, and the added service mix suggests practices are competing on convenience as much as clinical care, bundling medicine with dentistry, boarding, grooming, and training under one brand. The retail items in the same roundup point to the same broader trend: pet care businesses are widening their reach by making services and products easier to access in everyday consumer settings. What to watch: Watch for the North Hills opening and June 27 grand opening event, plus whether Vets Pets uses this site as a template for further Raleigh-area expansion. (thevetspets.com)
