Vets Pets adds second Wilson Veterinary Hospital site in NC

Vets Pets is adding a second Wilson Veterinary Hospital site in Wilson, North Carolina, with plans to open Wilson Veterinary Hospital – West this summer on Raleigh Road Parkway West. The new location will be led by Carrie Raymond, DVM, who joined the practice after graduating from NC State’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and has spent her entire career with Wilson Veterinary Hospital. James Lupton, DVM, will remain partner at the original hospital, while the two sites are expected to share the same standard of care across preventive, diagnostic, dental, and surgical services for dogs and cats. Vets Pets, which describes itself as a North Carolina-based cooperative network with more than 30 locations, framed the move as an access and capacity expansion in its hometown. (prnewswire.com)

Why it matters: For veterinary professionals, this looks less like a de novo startup and more like a capacity play built around continuity. Vets Pets is leaning on an established local brand, an internal leadership bench, and a familiar medical model rather than importing a new team or repositioning the practice. That matters in a market where practices are still balancing client demand, staffing realities, and pressure to improve access without disrupting care quality. Wilson is already a strategic hub for Vets Pets, which is headquartered there and has invested in other area facilities, including the expansion of Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital. What to watch: Watch for a firm opening date, hiring activity, and whether the second site shifts case flow, urgent appointments, or referral patterns within Wilson and the surrounding eastern North Carolina market. (prnewswire.com)
