UF honors Dr. Cassi Fleming in 2026 40 Gators Under 40

Version 1

University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine has named alumna Cassandra “Dr. Cassi” Fleming, M.S., D.V.M., as its 2026 40 Gators Under 40 honoree, recognizing her as part of the University of Florida Alumni Association’s annual class of outstanding young alumni. Fleming is a “triple Gator,” with UF degrees in animal sciences and veterinary medicine, and is now widely known through the North American Veterinary Community’s VetFolio platform, where she serves as “Dr. Cassi” on VetFolio Voice. UF said Fleming spent her first six years in practice as an associate veterinarian, later founded and ran Springs Veterinary Services, a mobile small animal practice, and now splits her time between VetFolio and clinical work focused largely on emergency medicine. Why it matters: For veterinary professionals, Fleming’s recognition reflects a career path that increasingly resonates across the field: combining hands-on clinical practice with education, media, and broader professional influence. Her role with VetFolio, a NAVC continuing education platform, also underscores how veterinarians are shaping peer learning and team development beyond the exam room, especially as practices look for flexible CE and more relatable clinical communication. What to watch: Fleming is scheduled to be honored at UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine commencement on May 22, 2026, and again during UF Alumni Weekend in June, which could further raise her profile as a veterinary educator and communicator. (vetmed.ufl.edu)
