IQI names Mike Turnbull sales manager for Canada and the U.S.

IQI Trusted Petfood Ingredients has appointed Mike Turnbull as sales manager for Canada and the United States, effective April 20, as the Netherlands-based supplier continues to build out its commercial presence in North America. Turnbull joins IQI with more than a decade of pet food sales and business development experience, most recently at Petcurean Pet Nutrition, and previously at Hill’s Pet Nutrition. IQI said he’ll support customers across both markets with ingredient selection, formulation support, and label-claim development, positioning the hire as part of its broader North American growth strategy. Why it matters: For veterinary professionals, the move is one more sign that pet food ingredient suppliers are investing more heavily in technical and commercial support closer to the North American market. That can influence how quickly manufacturers bring new formulations to market, especially in areas tied to functional ingredients, sustainability claims, and premium nutrition positioning. While this is a business-side personnel change, it reflects continued competition upstream in the pet food supply chain, where ingredient access, formulation support, and substantiated claims increasingly shape the diets pet parents see on shelves. What to watch: Watch for whether IQI pairs this commercial expansion with new North America-focused ingredient launches, partnerships, or formulation initiatives in 2026. (iqi-petfood.com)
