BluePearl blood drives link pet and human donor awareness

BluePearl Pet Hospital is expanding its push for community-based pet blood donation through joint blood drives with the American Red Cross, an effort the company says is meant to raise awareness of blood shortages affecting both veterinary and human medicine. BluePearl has said it wants to source 50% of the blood products used in its hospitals from its own voluntary donor network by the end of 2026, up from a smaller footprint in 2025, when its community blood banking program operated in 15 locations and the company said it performed about 7,000 transfusions.
