NAVC builds a year-round CE calendar beyond VMX

NAVC is using a steady drumbeat of 2026 programming to keep veterinary teams engaged well beyond VMX, with a new Today’s Veterinary Practice calendar highlighting a free VetFolio webinar on reptilian CPR and the upcoming HiVE Midwest meeting for veterinary nurses, technicians, practice managers, and support staff. The broader strategy is part of NAVC’s push to extend education across formats and roles after VMX 2026, which the organization said drew almost 29,000 attendees and delivered roughly 1,300 hours of continuing education. HiVE Midwest took place March 21-22 in Covington, Kentucky, with up to 12 RACE-approved CE hours, and NAVC has additional HiVE events scheduled for San Antonio in May and Charlotte in August. NAVC is also teeing up its next major hands-on offering, SkillShop, for May 24-28 in Orlando. (todaysveterinarypractice.com)

Why it matters: For veterinary professionals, especially support staff, the calendar reflects a continued shift toward more role-specific, lower-barrier CE options rather than relying only on large annual conferences. That matters in a workforce environment still shaped by burnout, retention pressure, and calls for better technician utilization, themes reflected in HiVE’s speaker lineup and programming around clinical skills, leadership, budgeting, mentoring, and suicide awareness. What to watch: Watch whether NAVC keeps expanding these between-conference education channels, especially HiVE and SkillShop, as it tries to turn VMX momentum into year-round engagement. (navc.com)
